About Genmai-cha
Premium Japanese green tea mixed with roasted popped brown rice (genmai), genmai-cha is also known to be called “popcorn tea” because the sound of roasting rice sounds similar to sound when making popcorn.
Genmai-cha is often popular with elder generation in Japan as it is “milder” (less caffeine etc) than straight steamed green tea and easier for the stomach. Because it is easier for the stomach, this tea is drunk after fasting by religious fasting or after a long period of not eating food.
Because they use premium green tea grown in sugarcane soil, you get all the health benefits and the award-winning aroma and tastes which is not bitter and less astringency.
The brown rice is a high-quality Japanese mochi-gome (もち米) sticky rice which adds premium taste.
