A road traffic collision has occurred on the M25, causing cooking oil to spill over the road. The motorway is partially closed for the second day, with multiple lanes expected to remain closed throughout Wednesday (April 20) and overnight.
A lorry collided with the central reservation yesterday morning (April 19), and oil was spilt in the crash. A clean up operation is still underway this afternoon.
The M25 was blocked in the clockwise direction between Junction 23, near South Mimms, and Junction 25, near Enfield. It has now partially reopened, but two lanes remain closed between Junction 24 (Potters Bar) and Junction 25.

A spokesperson for National Highways said in a tweet: “Two lanes (of four) remain closed between Junction 24 to J25. These lanes will remain closed until complex road surface clean-up works are complete. This is likely to be ongoing throughout the day and overnight.”
A spokesperson for the Met Police previously said: “Police are at the scene dealing with a lorry that was in a collision on the M25. Officers were called at about 11:15hrs to the M25, just between Junction 24 and 25.
“A lorry was reported to have been in collision with the central reservation and spilt cooking oil over the road. The M25 has been closed clockwise from Junction 23 to Junction 25. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.”
