Marinette County approves funds to support City of Marinette Airboat after reconsideration
Past thirty day period the Marinette County Board of supervisors accepted contributing $43,900 to the City of Marinette toward the acquire of a new 24 ft look for and rescue airboat with the caveat that the county be in a position to use the airboat. Nonetheless, at yesterday’s County Board meeting a movement was brought forth by Supervisor Allen to rethink motion taken by the County board to transfer the $43,900 to the Metropolis of Marinette for purchase of the Airboat. Because the Town of Marinette has recently allotted $500 per personnel for COVID-19 vaccinations applying ARPA resources when they could have utilized their ARPA funds toward the funding of the airboat as an alternative of inquiring the County for funding. County Administrator John Lefebvre states, “the Town of Marinette got $1.1 million in ARPA funding.”
Supervisor Ken Keller suggests, “there is a reason why the town is on the lookout for participation in the getting of the airboat.”
After a prolonged discussion, the board voted, and it arrived in at 14 in favor of the airboat to 13 not in favor. The envisioned supply day of the airboat is mid-January.
